A man reported Wednesday that when he started recording a tow truck driver who he thought was illegally towing a vehicle, the driver tried to run him over, according to a police report.
At about 4:36 a.m., police were dispatched to a disorderly conduct call in the 500 block of Schmitz Avenue. The caller said he was involved in an altercation with a tow truck driver.
The caller said he was outside around 3 or 4 a.m. when he heard commotion. He said he saw a tow truck driver attempting to jimmy the door to a vehicle.
Thinking the tow didn’t seem legitimate, the caller said he pulled out his phone and started recording. When the tow truck driver noticed him, he said, the driver told him he was repossessing the vehicle.
The caller said the tow truck driver then started throwing rocks at him. Then, the caller alleged that the driver got in his truck, pulled out of the driveway and drove onto the sidewalk very close to him. The caller said he believes the driver was trying to hit him.
When the driver stopped the vehicle, the caller said he started running away. The driver allegedly tried running after the caller. The caller said he was trying to get the license-plate number of the truck while running.
The caller asked the driver why he was chasing him. The driver allegedly yelled that he would “drop” him, which the caller said he believed was a threat to kill him.
The caller said he recorded the entire interaction and will provide police with the video. He said he wants to press charges.
Police are investigating the incident as a case of disorderly conduct involving abuse or threats in a public place.

3800 Ranchman Boulevard — A 33-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly broke into her neighbor’s house and assaulted her, according to a police report.
At about 6:55 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence. The caller said a woman refused to leave her house and had pushed and kicked her.
Police and medics arrived to speak with and check on the caller. The report states that she had a bump on her head as well as redness on her back and neck.
The caller said she and her husband were in their garage when their neighbor walked over and started speaking nonsensically, so the couple went back inside their house.
Soon after, she said, they heard a loud crash outside and saw a picture frame with broken glass on the ground near their vehicle. They didn’t see their neighbor.
The caller said her neighbor walked around the corner and entered a door to the house. The caller said she yelled at her neighbor that she couldn’t come in, but she said her neighbor continued, regardless.
Her neighbor allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall into a recliner. The neighbor then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and pushed her to the ground, which caused her to hit her head.
The report states that the neighbor then took off her shirt and left the house topless.
After hearing the caller’s account, police went to the neighbor’s house. The report states that she answered the door completely naked. She exited the house and police placed her under arrest.
The report states that she was acting erratically, so police transported her to a local hospital for evaluation. While at the hospital, she allegedly kicked a nurse in the side of the head, causing the nurse pain.
Along with burglary of a habitation, the woman was charged with assault of a public servant for allegedly striking the nurse.
3400 block of Joyce Lane — A woman reported Wednesday that two people, one wielding a tire iron, stole back the car she had recently purchased from them, according to a police report.
At about 10:23 a.m., a woman walked into the police department lobby to report an aggravated robbery.
She said she purchased a vehicle for $1,000 from someone on Tuesday. The next day, she said. the seller contacted her again to say they needed to get the vehicle back because they discovered it was reported as stolen. The woman agreed to return the vehicle as long as she got her money back.
The seller and someone she didn’t know came to get the vehicle from her. She alleged that the stranger brandished a tire iron. The report does not specify whether the pair made any threatening statements toward the woman. But she said that the stranger brandishing the tire iron made her fear for her safety.
She gave them back the keys and the vehicle. She said they told her they would refund her the money, but she hadn’t received it by Wednesday.
Police are still investigating the incident.
2100 block of Stockbridge Road — Police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex but did not find any injured persons or property damage, according to a police report.
At about 1:03 a.m., police were dispatched to Providence Place Apartments for a shots heard call. The caller reported hearing several shots fired nearby.
There were not any victims or suspects at the scene, according to the report. Police also did not receive any notice of shooting victims checking in at a local hospital for treatment.
Police also did not locate or receive any reports about property damage. They did locate eight shell casings in the complex’s parking lot.
