Plenty of events are happening this weekend, but make sure to bring an umbrella or jacket due to a slight chance of scattered showers expected to hit on Saturday and Sunday.
It will, however, be sunny enough to splash your way to Water Works Park to watch Minions: Rise of Gru Friday and enjoy taking your family to free educational events, including the Denton County Farm Heritage Day.

‘Minions: Rise of Gru’ showing at Water Works Park

When: Gates open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m.
Tickets: $10 for general admission, $5 with season pass holders
Splash your way to the Water Works Park to watch Minions: The Rise of Gru. The animated film is a sequel to Minions and serves as a prequel to the existing Despicable Me movie franchise.
Food N’ Fun Friday
Where: North Lakes Recreation Center & Park, 2001 W. Windsor Drive

Have you ever wanted to hit as many golf balls as possible? Denton Parks and Recreation offers a chance for locals to hit golf balls every second Friday of the month at its North Lakes Driving Range.
Live Music at Andy’s Bar

A night of psychedelic rock will feature Souls Extolled, as well as Latin psych family band, Los Alcos, on Friday night. The concert will also feature bands Maple and Heavy Daze. The venue will feature more shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Denton County Farm Heritage Day
Where: Bayless-Selby House Museum, 317 W. Mulberry St.
When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Denton County Office of History and Culture is hosting its fourth annual Denton County Farm Heritage Day at the Denton County Historical Park. The educational event will feature multi-era displays, crafts, an antique tractor display and more.
Duino Cars & Coffee Denton

Grab a cup of joe while enjoying a car show featuring a variety of vehicles at the coffee shop’s parking lot.
Pre-K Instrument Petting Zoo and Story Time

Take your kids to story time, and they’ll be able to handle some instruments. The event is hosted by Coyote Music Studio owner Tonya Blum Lincoln.

Board games: Blood on the Clocktower

Grab a drink while trying to catch the demon murderer before it’s too late. Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game of five to 20 players on opposing teams while a demon is on the loose, murdering by night and disguised in human form by day. It’s a murder mystery to solve with friends.
