The North Texas junior finished 10th in the shot put in the NCAA outdoor championships with a toss of 57-6 1/2. The mark earned Dove second-team All-American honors.
The top eight finishers in each event at the national meet are named first-team All-Americans, while the second eight are named to the second team.
Earning second-team honors was a milestone for Dove, who also qualified for the indoor national meet. The Houston native scratched on all three of her throws indoors and missed out on an opportunity to earn All-American honors.
Dove has been on a tear since. She won the shot put at the Conference USA meet with a throw of 62-2 1/4 that broke the league record in the event.
Dove went on to qualify for the national finals in the West Preliminary Rounds and made it a clean sweep by qualifying for both the indoor and outdoor national meets.
The opportunity was just what Dove needed to solidify her place among the greats in UNT history. Six UNT athletes have now combined to earn All-American honors seven times.
Clinton Collins was the last UNT athletes to earn the distinction in 2014, when he earned first-team honors in the 400-meter dash.
Dove is the first female athlete to earn track All-American honors since triple jumper Brandi Stanfield in 2006 and is the first UNT athlete to earn the distinction in a throwing event.
