The Denton County Transportation Authority will be hosting free rides to and from polling locations on election day within the DCTA service area.
The free ride services include A-train, Connect bus, the UNT Campus Shuttle and GoZone.
Free rides will be available all day Saturday, May 6. Voting kicks off at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
In a news release, CEO Paul Cristina said DCTA is simply doing its part to make it easy for people to get to the polls.
“We feel strongly that offering free rides to the polls will help our neighbors take an active part in electing our leaders and having their voices heard,” Cristina said in the release.
However, DCTA pointed out that the GoZone free rides will only apply to the Denton and Lewisville/Highland Village locations where it operates. Polling locations have also been programmed into the GoZone system, according to the release.
GoZone rides that don’t include a polling location as a start or end point will still incur regular charges, DCTA claimed.
On election day, Denton County voters must vote at their assigned polling location. To find your precinct and view a sample ballot, visit VoteDenton.gov.
Tuesday is the final day of early voting in Denton County, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During early voting, registered voters can cast their ballots at any county polling location.
