A slow start to the heat

Hot weather in North Texas is off to a slower start this year as compared to last year. Dallas-Fort Worth recorded 20 days in the 90s last May, while so far this May there have only been four. Last May’s heat was the start of a hot summer as DFW had 47 days with highs of 100 or higher. The normal number is 20 days. The forecast for this summer calls for a high chance of above-normal temperatures with equal chances of either above- or below-normal rainfall. A likely El Niño pattern will take over for fall.
